The way to Kula
A forest ascent, an open ridge, a horizon worth earning.

Kula is the summit of Bjelolasica, at 1,534 metres. Its grassy ridge rewards the climb with broad views across the wooded folds of Velika Kapela. This is a mountain walk that asks for preparation, rather than a sightseeing stop beside the road.
The Ogulin tourist board describes an approach from Jasenak via Vrelo. Approaches also exist from the Mrkopalj side. Choose the route with a current hiking map and local advice; access roads, trail condition and daylight all matter. Carry water, food, layers and offline navigation. Turn back if visibility or weather deteriorates.
The former Croatian Olympic Centre has been closed since the 2011 fire. Do not plan around working lifts or an operating ski resort.
